The Environment Agency has awarded a MEICA maintenance framework contract for its flood defence assets worth an estimated £87.422 million in total.

The Environment Agency were looking to appoint suppliers to provide MEICA services to support the operation, repair and maintenance of a variety of flood defence assets, including:
- lock gates
- pumping stations
- river level maintenance weirs
- flow and level measurement systems.
The contract was tendered in the following six area based Lots to deliver planned and reactive maintenance, and minor project work. Each Lot has its own Framework Agreement to be delivered by a single provider with a reserve Supplier in place. Initial contract term is for three years with an optional one year extension based on performance.
Lot 1 - North West £8,277,7600 :(Amalgamated Construction Ltd (AmcoGiffen) – 1 of 4 bidders
Lot 2 - North East (£7,675,710): ECS Engineering Services Limited – 1 of 4 bidders
Lot 3 – Central (£28,511,340): ECS Engineering Services Limited – 1 of 2 bidders
Lot 4 - South East (£18,416,842): ECS Engineering Services Limited – 1 of 3 bidders
Lot 5 – Wessex (£17,609,172): Amalgamated Construction Ltd – 1 of 3 bidders
Lot 6 - Devon and Cornwall (£6,931,031): Galliford Try Construction Limited – 1 of 2 bidders
For all area based lots, work includes planned preventative maintenance, reactive works and minor project work (NOT major project work).
The framework is available for use by the Environment Agency and no other authorities.
